This session starts with a special screening of "Minnesota Nice?" (2012), a documentary by Alec Fischer, a 2012 Edina High School graduate, that explores bullying in public schools from a student's perspective. Flipped Learning: Using Video for Teaching and Learning
Come join us for a day dedicated to flipped learning. After viewing various materials before the workshop, participants will discuss the role video can play in teaching and learning before digging in to create their own videos. We'll review screencasting techniques and have hands-on time for creating digital content. Bring course material you want to use in creating videos. You will learn how current technology tools and workflows are changing the way we communicate, teach and learn.

Getting Geeky with Social Networking
Every educator has an inner geek. We just need to find the tool(s) to reveal it! Participants in this session will find ways to "get their geek on" with tools like Twitter, Diigo, Pinterest and more. Tami (@brasst on Twitter since August 2007) will share how she uses these tools to mine for resources, build a personal learning network (PLN), and collaborate with educators around the world. Although "appvice" will be offered, an iPad/iPhone/Android is not required.

iMovie in the Classroom: Creating Trailers and Podcasts using Mac/iPad
Learn how to use iMovie 11 to create podcasts for students and by students. Participants will view samples made by Spanish students from the instructor's classroom and learn how to use iMovie for the iPad to create trailers. Sample trailers will be shared, and participants will brainstorm topics for trailers, podcasts and movies to be used in their classrooms. Come with an iPad 2 or 3 with the iMovie app installed or a laptop with iMovie 11 or greater.

At times informal and unstructured opportunities can enable spontaneous learning and provide opportunities for effective use of student owned devices. Join this workshop where participants will explore learning jams with unusual problems to sharpen their abilities with investigative tools and strategies. Experience the use of web-based “jam tools” such as Wikispaces, myPad, Scribblar, Evernote, TodaysMeet, Onelinr, Socrative, and Corkboard to provide a canvas for student jamming to come alive.
